Masterclass by Ron Diamond
Admission is $10
Often people wonder, “Why did certain films not get nominated?”, “What distinguished one film over another to make it to become the Oscar Winner?”, “What are the voting procedures?,” “What qualifies a film?”, and “How does someone become an Academy member?”
Academy Member Ron Diamond, presents a three hour Master Class that will entertain, inform, and challenge the viewing audience’s preconceptions as to the lesser-known facts about the filmmaking world’s most sought after and respected honor, the Academy Award®.
Diamond explains the rules for submission and pitfalls that have caused some films to be disqualified. To give participants perspective on what kinds of films attract the attention of the Academy Members, Diamond will present a selection of short films including samples of Academy Award Winners, Academy Award Nominates, Oscar qualified shorts that were shown for consideration yet did not progress to nomination, and shorts that did not qualify, might have been disqualified or were not submitted for consideration.
Diamond will share original documents with attendees along with Academy Awards programs and other materials generally regarded as only seen by Academy members and those attending the Academy Awards.
